Marine Insurance Claims Handler

The opportunity: The pace of change in marine insurance means we’re looking for a talented, ambitious Claims Handler to join the Fairwater claims team.

Working in Fairwater's claims department, you will be responsible for handling and resolving a full portfolio of marine claims by investigating, assessing and finalising claims. You’ll work within a supportive team with lots of opportunity to develop. This will include making sure all active matters are dealt with hastily and that all concerned parties are kept up to date

As a Claims Handler, you will be dealing directly with clients such as Shipowners, Charterers, Shipbrokers and Traders as well as the in-house insurance brokers representing their clients and the concerned insurers. On top of this, you will also be dealing with marine surveyors, loss adjustors, solicitors and repairers. You will need excellent communication skills, preferably in English, Swedish and Finnish.. Ideally, you will have experience of working within an insurance environment and have experience of claims, however, we are able to consider applications from other backgrounds. Additionally, you will require good case management and workload management skills. Experience within the maritime industry will be an advantage. The main focus of the role will be around the service given to the clients or their representative.

This role is available part-time or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people are not available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

What will you be doing? - Responsible for handling claims, mainly P&I, but including hull related matters. - Reporting to management and in-house brokers regarding status of ongoing cases. - Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external parties. - To proactively handle claims aiming to assist the clients to settle cases within optimum time scales. - Investigation and evaluation of liability to achieve the desired resolution. - Assisting clients with legal and liability related concerns in a loss prevention role. - Administration such as claims collection as well as filing of case vital communication.

What are we looking for? You will be required to deliver exceptional customer service through strong relationship management and effective negotiation skills. You will also have an inquisitive nature that will enable you to ask questions and reach accurate decisions.

Ideally, you will have experience from an insurance or financial services background however we can consider all customer centric backgrounds.
